Fashion is a form of self-expression. It’s about taking what’s on the inside and projecting it for the world to see in the form of couture. Fashion Week only happens twice a year, and is a chance for emerging designers from all over the globe to come together as one to make their debut on the runway. Fashionistas, trendsetters, anyone with a real passion for fashion attend to celebrate the creative forces that influence us on a daily basis. It’s greater than art because we live our lives in it.
Fashion Forward Dubai is a fashion platform providing direction, development and exposure for the regional fashion industry. London Fashion Week welcomed Fashion Forward Dubai to its catwalk in support of Middle Eastern talent.
Lama Jouni was just one of many designers part of Fashion Forward Dubai who graced the catwalk with her presence at London Fashion Week. Graduating from Parsons in Paris and training at the most prestigious and respected fashion houses such as Balmain served as the inspiration for the collection. It is a unique style of bold yet equally feminine made to be worn by the passionate and independent woman of today.
Moving to Paris in 2007 with a dream of becoming one of the first worldwide known up and coming Lebanese fashion designers, a high end ready to wear label was born in November 2013.
The collection has been described as “a rich culture of the east with a playful feminine touch” as well as “dusty pink and ivory against midnight blue and black”.
Unlike the striking catwalks filled with flamboyant collections, this collection echoes the Parisian minimalist’s wardrobe – simple sophistication. A Parisian woman doesn’t own too many clothes, just a few classic and timeless staples. After all, “simplicity is the key note of all true elegance.”
