Unless you live under a rock and do not own an Instagram, Twitter, Facebook or Tumblr account, you are all aware that the youngest Jenner, Kylie, has brought out her own lip product called ‘Lipkit by Kylie’. It claims to make your lips look fuller and it achieves the matte finish that has become so popular amongst lipstick lovers recently.
Unfortunately, for us mere mortals who are not A) Kylie’s friend, B) a make-up artist/blogger or C) a US citizen and shipping to the UK costs £9, we were unable to get our hands on one. Even if we tried, they had sold out before they even went on sale, no seriously.
Kylie’s army of fans worship her luscious lips and all aim to achieve the same plumpness, without resorting to lip fillers like Kylie (who finally admitted it) did. The ‘Lipkit’ is Kylie’s solution for her followers. It costs around £20 and includes a liquid matte lipstick and a matching lip liner, which really isn’t too expensive. However, if like any normal person, you are not willing to pay the extortionate delivery charge, here are some alternatives.
VELVETINES BY LIME CRIME
These are the original matte lipstick products by ‘Lime Crime’. They are £13.20 plus delivery and come in so many different colours. The packaging is gorgeous and ‘Lime Crime’ products are all super environmentally friendly and they are also very against animal testing.
ROUGE EDITION VELVET BY BOUJOIS
These have been tried and tested by the team here at SANT and we can confirm that these are amazing! The applicator makes it so easy as well as quick. The colour lasts all day and there are many different shades to choose from. These cost £8.99 from any ‘Boujois’ retailer.
Chi Chi Creamy Matte Liquid Lipstick
These babies have amazing reviews, even though ‘Chi Chi’ have always been regarded as a teenage brand, they’ve recently been getting more attention. They are made and shipped from Australia and retail at around £12 plus delivery.
SOFT MATTE LIP CREAM BY NYX
‘NYX’ are an affordable American make-up brand who already have an amazing array of lip products, then they went one step further and brought out a liquid version! They are nice and compact and retail at only £4 (!) plus delivery. These are by far the cheapest liquid matte lipsticks on the market and they definitely compete with more high-end products.
STAY ALL DAY LIQUID LIPSTICK BY STILLA
This is the final alternative; they may not market themselves as a matte lip product but from reviews online most make-up bloggers agree that they have a slight matte finish. They are, however, up the higher end of the price scale, retailing at £16 plus delivery, but ‘Stilla’ are a prestigious make up brand and have raving reviews!
Now, we won’t blame you if you still go and spend £29 on a ‘Lip Kit’ as they do look really good and the reviews have been flawless, but if money is a bit tight and you still want to achieve the Kylie Jenner pout, go and pick up one of these amazing alternatives.
