SHAKE, STIR & SIP & SERVE: Five Cocktails to make this summer

Cocktail ONE: Lime, Lemon & Ginger Refresher

This cocktail is bursting with zest, juice and flavour, and is especially delicious to drink in the summer months of the year. Plus, it’s super easy to make.

Here’s what this flavoursome drink contains:

20ML Sparkling Water

Ice Cubes

150 ML Vodka

500ML Ginger Beer

100ML Sugar Cane Syrup

6 Limes, 1 sliced up and 5 juiced

6 Lemons, 1 sliced up and 5 juiced.

How To Make:

Combine the Lime and lemon juice with the vodka and sugar cane.

Fill a jug with ice (approximately half way full), and pour in the vodka.

Add the sliced lime and lemon into the jug and stir the drink thoroughly with a wooden spoon – then pour in the sparkling water and ginger beer then stir for the final time.

Cocktail TWO: Long Island iced tea

This alcoholic mixed drink consists of five types of spirits – so the alcohol content in this drink is very high! It’s a perfect summer drink to sip on, have at a BBQ, or to make for your friends who like their drinks with a bit of a punch. The Long Island iced tea contains the following ingredients:

You will need:

Lime Wedges (cut into quarters)

500 ML Coca-Cola

12.5ML Sugar cane syrup

12.5ML of Cointreau

20ML Lemon Juice

12.5ML Tequila

12.5ML Gin

  1. 5ML White Rum

12.5ML Vodka

Ice Cubes

How To Make:

Fill a large jug with ice (halfway full) and add all of the ingredients in (apart from the coca cola), and give it a good stir.

Slowly pour the coca cola into the mixture until the cocktail becomes a yellow/ brown colour.

To finish, garnish with a lime wedge – and enjoy.

Cocktail THREE: Pina Colada

50ML Full-Fat Milk

50 ML Pineapple Juice

40 ML Malibu Caribbean

Ice Cubes

Pineapple wedges to garnish

How To Make:

Fill a high glass ¾ full with ice cubes – this way it’ll chill your glass, keeping your drink cool and refreshing.

Pour all of the ingredients into the glass and stir gently both ways.

Garnish with 1 – 2 sliced pineapples wedges. Add a blueberry or cherry on the side for decoration.

Cocktail FOUR: Mint & Raspberry Prosecco Cocktail

2 teaspoons of caster sugar

Punnet of fresh Raspberries

1 Bottle of Prosecco

How To Make:

Combine the caster sugar with the raspberries and blend in a blender until the raspberries and caster sugar form into a pretty pink pureed.

Sieve out of the seeds of the raspberries so that the cocktail drinks smoothly, spoon the drink into a pretty glass until its ¾ full, and top up the rest with your favourite prosecco of choice.

Stir gently, and then serve into glass tumbler with a couple of fresh raspberries and a sprig of mint – you can also add blueberries or strawberries if you’re a big lover of berry fruits!

Cocktail FIVE: Classic Mojito

Crushed Ice Cubes

1 Bottle of soda water

1 Packet of fresh Mint Leaves

50ML of white rum

15ML sugar cane syrup

25ML lime juice freshly squeezed, plus 1 wedge to garnish

How To Make:

Pour the sugar cane syrup, lime juice and rum into a highball glass and stir gently.

Bash a few mint leaves together – this helps to bring out the minty smell and full flavour of the herb, and add them to the glass.

Fill the glass halfway full with crushed ice, then with a spoon or a ladle stir all the ingredients together until all the mint and syrup is mixed thoroughly – ideally so that you’ll have lots of mint sprigs and limes running throughout the glass.

Serve the mojito in a glass tumbler, top with soda and garnish with a mint sprig and/or a sprinkle of brown sugar.
