“Leadership is someone who brings people together.” Once said George W. Bush the 43rd president of the United States.

Talk about a sales manager or a CEO, as a leader one should have the ability to mobilize people together towards achieving something great. It’s a sole quality of a leader to recognize and to bring out the best from the people they are working with and utilizing the same to achieve higher goals. Which is indispensable and can be key to the success of any organization.

A study by Dale Carnegie Training revealed that nearly 75% of the employees are disengaged at work, and one of the leading factors stated in the study is issues with management. They don’t feel like management is doing its job of giving them support and helping them eliminate hurdles.

Many times management cannot be omnipresent and be in everything and hence the responsibility of communicating and connecting rests in the hands of the leaders.  And as time passes by the vigor of the freshest of employees also fades away and they are ought to look up to the leadership for support and inspiration. So here are 5 Effective Leadership Techniques which we can use to Inspire our Team and lead them towards achieving the goals.

    Give them freedom:

Being a leader is a very responsible job and hence we tend to take it very seriously. We always try to make things perfect by micromanaging things and even taking pride in it by claiming to be a “perfectionist” or under the pretext of keeping a close eye so we can help and make sure our team members are performing at their best. But this does no good, and more harm to the efficiency of the team. Instead of this we can use our expertise somewhere else and give them some space to learn and discover new ways of doing things on their own, and succeeding on their own.

    Identify and address dissatisfaction issues:

A good manager is aware of the productive employees and the employees who are happy and satisfied with them as well as their job. But a great leader is not only aware of productive employees but is also aware and can identify the disgruntled and unsatisfied employees and address their dissatisfaction issues promptly. As these members who have lost their vision and Vigor tend to hold back the entire team by resisting to commands, coaching, and underperform consistently affecting the productivity and morale of the whole team.

    Encourage team collaboration:

It is aptly said that Collaboration is the engine of a team and as a team leader it is highly recommended to encourage team Collaboration to develop open communication and respect, which can be achieved through communication and interaction through various team collaborations projects. Henceforth it will help them to work more effectively and productively working as a team helping each other.

Challenge the team through specific, measurable goals:

It’s no secret that people are more productive when we provide them with clear, well-defined goals. And as a leader, we can inspire them by helping them set specific, realistic goals which are also challenging at the same time. This in turn will help them positively in pursuing their goals and also motivating them. We can get some inspiration from Greg Boland West Face Capital Inc.’s’ Founding Principal, CEO, and Co-Chief Investment Officer. Greg Boland who isn’t afraid to go against the grain and help his team members take on ambitious targets as well.

Have them focus on what they do best:

The key to leveraging from everyone’s skills and increasing the productivity of any team is ‘appropriate delegation’. By utilizing this technique of giving character-oriented tasks we not only save our team members from overburdening them, with work which is not suited for them but also recognize, use and appreciate the expertise and potential of other team members as well, who is best suited for that task.

    Conclusion:

Leadership can be a demanding and taxing task, but it is a very rewarding one too. We get an opportunity as a leader to help and inspire our members to do better. Try these techniques. And see what new and how more the team can do with just a little bit of inspiration.
