Introduction A1 English test
A1 English test is a test demonstrating a person’s fundamental command on the language English through a basic chat includes no reading, listening or writing. It is the English test level involving of around 40 -50 hours of the study regarding language, for the people who are already acquainted with the language. For A1 English test booking, it is very necessary for a person to pass a test called Secure English Language Test and also to reach up to a level of CEFR also known as Common European framework of Reference for languages. There are levels like a1 which is for beginner’s a2, b1, b2, c1 and c2 is for the people who have mastered the language. It describes the capability of a person on the language. This test is taken to apply for the visa for the person who wants to settle abroad in the British land, for the extension of the visa or for the citizenship or an unknown cause to remain in the British land.
Format of the Test
As all the tests have a certain kind of a format. Likewise, this test also has a format. There is time duration for every level of the test like for a1 it is 16 – 18 minutes and different time duration for other levels.
A1 has two parts of the test.
Part 1: the students are supposed to ask and answer to the questions and have a small argument on day to day lifestyle like:

- Friends and family
- Purchasing goods
- Work
- Health
- Leisure
- Education / training
- Transportation
- Housing
- Climatic conditions
Part 2:A recording is played on the CD. The candidates needs to listen to the recording properly, understand its meaning. They can make notes while they are listening to the recording and later on they have a discussion about the recording.
Scoring
There can be one of the two results: pass or fail. If a candidate fails in any of the parts of the test, their application for the visa might get rejected.
- Candidates are judged on:
- Ability to obtain information
- Ability to transfer the information
- Ability to speak in order to communicate
- Ability to get engaged in the discussion
- While taking the test the scoring is not judged.
Results
Results of the test taken are announced within seven days. The candidates are supposed to receive a copy of the test report form.
Allotted Location and dates
The location of the test is allotted in part of the country, but it has to be designated by the British Visas and Immigration. The dates of the test are made available after 28 days of booking of the test.
Supposedly, a candidate is not able to pass the test; he is allowed to retake the test. But if the candidate has passed the test, he or she is not supposed to retake the test for two years.
Conclusion
A1 English test booking is done to check the ability of the person to communicate in the preferred language. It is done to meet the requirements of British Visas and immigration. This test is not for assessing person’s ability to read or write. This test is taken for the visa to settle abroad, for the extension of the visa. A1 test is 16-8 minutes long and the test is all about the day to day subjects.
