The first LED lamps were quite weak and the shrill white light was not appreciated by many. Today, LEDs can easily compete with traditional lamps in terms of brightness and color temperature.
In addition to the white LED, there is also the RGB LED with which LED light in all kinds of fun colors is possible. Especially for those who love colored light and light effects, LEDs are the perfect choice. They do not need a color filter that blocks the light and produce light directly in different colors without loss of light intensity. Read more about the light color of LED here.
Dimming an LED lamp is the way to create extra atmosphere in your home. There are certainly dimmable LED lamps on the market but it remains a difficult matter anyway. Most traditional dimmers have too low a minimum wattage. Fortunately, there are more and more dimmers on the market with a lower minimum wattage that is better suited for dimming LED lighting. With the 5 room bto renovation package you can find the best deal here.
Dimming LED lights has always been a difficult story and it still is. The vast majority of the LED lamps that you find on the market are not dimmable. The packaging of the lamp must always state explicitly whether the LED lamp is dimmable and with which dimmer. Via the internet you mainly find information about dimming incandescent bulbs and transformers, little about dimming LED lighting. This is because dimmable LED lamps have only recently been introduced to the market.

Which Lamps Can You Replace With Dimmable Leds?
There is a very wide variety of LED lighting on the market and they are all powered differently. The retrofit lamps are the easiest group to use. Retrofit lamps are LED lamps intended for the replacement market. If you have a series of recessed spotlights at 230 volts at home, you can replace them with LED lights. If you opt for LED lamps where the packaging states that they are dimmable, you can assume that they are dimmable with the same dimmer as the halogen lamps used to dim.
If you want to replace 12 volt bulbs with LED bulbs, the story becomes a lot harder. The vast majority of the retrofit LED lights cannot be powered by the electronic transformer that you already have for supplying the low-voltage lights. You then have to replace the electronic transformer with the classic wound version and to dim that wound version you need another dimmer. That way it becomes a very complicated story and my advice is always: If you have 12v halogen lamps in the house and you want to replace them with LED lamps, replace everything. Choose a device that already has an LED on board and works with a driver that is dimmable by the classic dimmer.

For the more expensive lighting devices with an LED on board, an LED that cannot be replaced and is an integral part of the device, it is best to follow the manufacturer’s guidelines that always state whether you can use a dimmer and which ones. Mind you, you never actually dim the LED lamp itself, but always the driver for it. If that driver is part of the lighting device, follow the guidelines that the manufacturer of that device indicates. If a separate driver has to be provided, follow the dimming instructions that the manufacturer of the driver indicates. Can you still follow? Probably not.We can therefore only give one good advice. Get professional help or follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
