Common Telecom Company Red Flags That Business Leaders Need To Know!

If your business team is thinking about teaming up with a telecom company in your local area, then you’re on the right track toward a fruitful relationship that can transform your entire company’s overall efficiency. However, not all telecom companies are the same, and there are some telecom providers that are typically best to be avoided!

It’s crucial for business leaders to be aware of specific red flags that might come up within a third-party telecom partnership, because understanding what to be on the lookout for will keep you on guard and potentially save you a ton of time, money and stress.

We’ve partnered up with Data Talk to create this list of common telecom company red flags that business leaders should know, so it’s time to take serious precautions if you recognize any of the below red flags!

Abnormally Cheap Prices On Your Bills

If you see that your telecom bill shows up-front rates that are far below market averages (below $200), it’s likely that they’re shadily charging you expensive delivery charges. This is essentially a telecom company trying to pull a fast one on you, because they’re expecting that you’ll only see the partial rate and think their services are more affordable than their competitors.

It’s important to understand the full amount that you’re paying for telecom services, and the sad truth is that a lot of business leaders fall for this deceptive billing trick. Your actual price will always include things like delivery charges (or whatever a telecom company refers to these fees).

This is why it’s so important to team up with a reputable telecom company that truly values transparency!

Your Telecom Company Wants An Exclusive Partnership

Although it’s normal to sign contracts and develop partnerships with telecom providers, there’s a huge difference when they want an exclusive relationship with your business. This is because they’re essentially trying to eliminate any potential outside competition that could lure you away from them, and there are many reasons why telecom providers conduct this red flag strategy.

It’s possible that some of your company’s locations are difficult to deliver their services to, or that your company requires a large array of different telecom services and features. Maybe your locations are networked, but no matter what their reasoning is, exclusive telecom partnerships are always going to cost you more money.

The best way for you to get the very best combination of quality and affordability from your telecom provider is to have multiple carriers bidding for your partnership!

    Strangely Streamlined Contract Agreements

If your telecom provider is giving you very simplified two-page contract agreements for their undoubtedly comprehensive services, it’s likely that it’s too good to be true. Telecom contracts are supposed to include intricate details about a carrier’s services, which means that these contracts should have a decent amount of terms and conditions.

Although you don’t necessarily need a contract that has an excessive amount of terms and conditions, it’s more alarming when a contract agreement hides this type of information from you. It’s incredibly risky to sign contracts with shady telecom companies that don’t value transparency, because it’s like going into a valuable business relationship with your eyes completely closed!

    Excessively High Administration Fees

High administration fees are another serious telecom red flag that business leaders need to be on the lookout for, and these fees typically come with low service rates that initially seem appealing. What happens is that the telecom provider will tack on all sorts of additional fees to their bills, which can range upwards of $50 to $100 per month.

These are undoubtedly very strange fees, because they usually aren’t enough to get angry about—even though they’re still pretty annoying. The best thing that business leaders can do is simply be aware of these administration fees prior to signing any contracts, which essentially means demanding full transparency from potential carriers during consultation calls.

If you get your entire agreement in writing prior to signing anything, you can potentially get refunded for these types of fees when they show up on your monthly bill.
